Latest National Rankings for January released

The latest National Rankings are in with very little movement at the pointy end of the spectrum for both Men’s and Women’s bowlers.

Both the top-ranked male (David Ferguson) and female (Natasha Scott) retain their stronghold on the mantle, while the entire top four on the Women’s side also remains unchanged.

Kelly McKerihen slides to 12 with Lynsey Clarke replacing her in the top five, while on the Men’s side, there has been a re-shuffle between places two to five.

Lee Scharner’s dual Men’s Singles win at his home Tasmanian State Championships and Pairs victory with Mark Nitz at the Pelican Classic Pairs sees him climb to second on the rankings, while top-ranked David Ferguson was at the double at the Ballina Summerland taking out the Men’s Singles and Pairs with Ben Twist, the latter also enjoying a rise to third on the rankings with this result and a runners-up finish at the Yallhourn Energy Australia Classic Singles.

Lyn Triffitt also fared well at her home event in the Tasmanian State Championships, taking out the Ladies’ Singles and Pairs with Amelia Bruggy and in the process climbing from 346 in the rankings to 39, while Bruggy herself climbed to 28 from 49.

The National Rankings System operates on a yearly rolling-points system, where all points accrued are retained for twelve-month period and are then discounted.

The rankings year concludes at the completion of the Australian Open in June 2018, with the number one ranked male and female players earning the titles of Male and Female Bowlers of the Year and $3,000 prize purses each.

Players can accrue ranking points from all national events, State Championships, State Champion of Champion and selected club events.
